The GCSE results achieved by Year 11 this year are the best ever in the history of the school. 75% of year 11 have 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* - C including English and Mathematics. This is an outstanding achievement and makes Chesterton Community Sports College one of the highest performing schools in the area.

Both English and Mathematics departments achieved their highest ever percentage pass rates; bucking the national trend in this respect. English achieved an 80% pass rate and Mathematics 86%. Modern foreign languages and science performed extremely well as did some of the new subjects which are now offered including Psychology, Media and Statistics.

Mrs L Jackson, Executive Headteacher, said: "These are excellent results. We are incredibly proud of the year 11 students who worked extremely hard to achieve these."

Eighty four percent of the students gained 5 or more GCSE passes at grades C or above and there were significant increases in the numbers of A and A* grades achieved.

Many year 10 students have also obtained some good GCSE grades from early entries which puts them in a strong position to achieve the very highest standards in year 11.

Mr R Swindells, Associate Headteacher, commented: "The school continually strives to improve and this ethos has helped to bring about the upward trend in achievement in recent years.
