We had a group of 25 students for the food glorious food activity week, for the first day we planned a menu to serve on Thursday for staff lunches and had a mini bake off, making scones to test the student’s skills. On Tuesday, we had a trip to Reaseheath college to see the food department and did two sessions there – bakery and cake decorating, we had to wear safety overalls hairnets and shoe covers which gave us a laugh.

Wednesday was a shopping day, with a trip to Hanley market to see local produce as well as a trip to Tesco to get any ingredients that we couldn’t find at the market. Thursday was our big day of cooking, we had many dishes made by our students which were enjoyed by staff and we had lots of positive feedback, we had mini burgers made, lasagne, frittata, stir fry, jambalaya, cakes, meringues, pinwheels and these are just a small few examples of the dishes we had on offer. On our last day we decided that because of all the students hard work we would go out for a few hours to Snugburys in Nantwich and have a walk to see the straw peter rabbit and - of course enjoy a rather delicious ice cream.
