During Creative Learning Week, 26 students from years 7-9 took part in a wide range of activities exploring the concept of how aircraft stay in flight.
Throughout the course of the week pupils constructed model aircraft and helicopters of varied styles and designs and undertook a number of practical investigations to test and modify the capacity of their models.
On the Wednesday pupils visited RAF Cosford to tour and explore the RAF Museum and to see actual aircraft from history and learn how designs developed with regard to features such as propulsion systems. The museum also had numerous displays that allowed pupils to get hands-on with the physics of flight.
The highlight of the trip was the visit to the 4D cinema to experience flight in a World War 1 bi-plane.
As part of the week pupils participated in Project Airfix; constructing and painting plastic 1:72 scale models of Spitfires, Messerschmitts and Foland Gnats.
Many pupils took great pride and satisfaction in their accomplishments during the week long project.
