leaderswithshoeboxesOver the last month, the pupils and staff at Chesterton Community Sports College have been busy filling shoeboxes in support of the Samaritan's Purse charity.

Shoeboxes were filled at home with items such as toys, stationary, sweets and hygiene products, with a fantastic 36 boxes being filled in total. Each box is given to a child living in extreme poverty in the hope of spreading a little bit of Christmas joy and happiness. The boxes were finally dropped off at Signal 1 Radio on the 18th November where they will now embark upon their long journey to those who need them most.

This project, known as Operation Christmas Child, was organised in school by Miss K Owen, Head of Religious and Multicultural Studies. She said:

"This is something I have done with my own daughter for the last two years and we have always enjoyed picking the toys and gifts and packing the box. Knowing the gift-filled box will make its way to a child who will truly appreciate it, is a fantastic feeling.  I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our pupils and staff; 36 boxes is a fantastic achievement and seeing the pupils take so much care over their boxes is very inspiring."

Many thanks to the following for making such wonderful shoeboxes: Taylor Parsons, Rebecca Higginson, Darcie Bagguley, Chelsea Pedley-Booth, Charlotte Wint, Laura Huxley, Isobelle Hulme, Trinity Bourne, Levi-Ashlee Philips, Aaron Arthur, Jessica Hall, Hollie Middleton, Kate Stanier, Caitlin Hughes, Aimee Hughes, Elizabeth Dunn, Courtney Evans, Mr Hall, Mrs Rhodes, Miss Bloor, Miss Collis, Miss Harvey, Mrs Revell, Mrs Hall, Mr Dunn, Miss Hallam, Mrs Waterhouse, Miss Dunne, Mr Wynne, Miss Owen and the RMS Leaders.
