Lesson Structure
Staff work hard to create a supportive and inclusive environment where learners develop the confidence and resilience they need to thrive and achieve. High quality teaching enables our students to know more, understand more and remember more about the intended curriculum. Lessons at CCSC are carefully structured to support engagement, understanding and progress. Teachers and leaders recognise that it takes time to fully embed knowledge. Lessons therefore begin with recap of prior knowledge and clear learning intentions, followed by explicit teaching and guided practice to build confidence and understanding. Pupils then apply their learning during silent independent practice, with regular opportunities for questioning and feedback. Constant assessment allows our teachers to be responsive and adapt lessons or future learning in order to address the areas identified for development.
