School Direct and PGCE places are offered at CCSC to ensure trainees are able to access the best possible support in their chosen subject area. Our subject mentors are outstanding teachers and subject experts, who are also skilled in explaining their own practice. Our places are submitted through the OAKS SCITT(School Centred Initial Teacher Training.) You will find the link below.
School Direct training emphasises the importance of genuine partnerships, where schools, in conjunction with their chosen university, play a leading role in the recruitment and selection of trainees, course design and delivery, assessment of trainees and the on-going review of the programmes.
This is why we have chosen to be in partnership with the OAKS SCITT as you will be an integral part of school life from the beginning of the course. This enables you, as a trainee, to gain QTS with a PGCE award over the course of your training at Keele and two partnership schools. An effective partnership is the key and this course offers a unique combination of university-based training alongside two school teaching placements.
Our current trainees range from those who come into the profession at an early age to others who are career changers and, of course, all are welcome. Our aim is to ensure that your training is matched to a rigorous and supportive professional development programme. ITT should introduce new teachers to crucial elements of knowledge, skills and understanding that all teachers need. ITT should also provide an environment for new teachers to learn from our best teachers.
The following link will lead you directly to the OAKS website where you can learn more about Keele and the schools involved in supporting your progression as a teacher.
This in turn links to UCAS where you will need to apply directly to the OAKS SCITT.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future and thank you for your interest in our school
