philippines cakesaleYear 9 students Lyndsay Goodfellow-Dolar and Charlotte Wint were shocked and concerned when they heard about the recent typhoon in the Philippines and decided they wanted to do something to help. Between them they came up with the idea of holding a cake sale to raise money to donate to the Philippines Typhoon Appeal. They asked other students and staff to help by baking cakes for the sale.

Lyndsay and Charlotte held the cake sale on Tuesday 19th November at break time and had so many cakes to sell that they enlisted some of their friends to help them including Paige Findler, Megan Scott and Charlotte Dowling. Sales were brisk and by the end of break they had raised £130.

This was a fantastic achievement by the girls and will be much appreciated by those affected in the Philippines who have lost homes and family members in the tragedy.

Year 9 tutor, Miss C Torr, said: "I'm very impressed with the way Lyndsay and Charlotte organised this event themselves."

Many thanks to all those who helped with the cake sale and those who purchased cakes.
