On Thursday 23rd November, 140 Year 7 pupils found themselves cast aboard the infamous Hispaniola, a ship rife with pirates, sword fights and the memories of Captain Flint himself. Fear not though! In reality their feet were firmly on dry land at the New Vic Theatre's latest stage production of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel ‘Treasure Island’

It is a timeless tale of greed, betrayal and the battle between good and evil, brought to the stage by the brilliant creative team behind legendary New Vic Christmas shows such as The Borrowers and The Snow Queen. Here, pupils were treated to thrilling characters and nail-biting storylines, enhanced by the added twist of contemporary rock music.

The pupils are to be commended for their excellent behaviour and conduct throughout the day. They relished the opportunity to experience live theatre and many commented on the enjoyable aspects of the day. Some even managed to smuggle out their very own piece of pirate treasure from the collection of gold coins that decorated the stage!
