Option Evening was held on Thursday 8th May 2014 for Year 8 pupils and their parents / carers.

After a short talk in the school hall, outlining the option process and giving an overview of the choices available, there was opportunity to visit the different subjects and find out about the courses on offer. The hall, library and foyer were buzzing with activity as pupils and parents talked to subject staff, viewed course materials and admired work completed by upper school students.

There is an extensive range of subjects available including: Media, PE, Computer Science, Music, Fine Art, Graphics, Italian, Psychology, Textiles, ICT, Drama, 3D Art, Food, Dance and Resistant Materials.

The school places great emphasise on ensuring pupils take courses that they will both enjoy and be successful at.

The core subjects also took part in the event so there was opportunity to find out about the GCSE courses in English and Literature, Mathematics and Statistics, Spanish and French, Science and History and Geography.

Mr R Swindells, Associate Headteacher, said: 'Gaining eight GCSEs with good grades is increasing important as this is what colleges and employers will be looking for. We take the option process very seriously to ensure that pupils achieve this standard by taking appropriate subjects.'

Attendance at the event was excellent and it was lovely to see so many pupils and their families.
