The first ever ski trip from Chesterton Community Sports College left on 11th April. After a coach and ferry journey the group arrived in La Thuile, in the Italian Alps, and were greeted by glorious sunshine, clear blue skies and dazzling white snow. The group enjoyed lunch with fabulous views of the surrounding mountains and organised their kit before a quiz evening and birthday dinner for Maisie.

Everyone was excited about the first day of skiing, with the year 11 boys especially being up bright and early and ready to get started. The instructors were excellent and the students made fantastic progress in their first few lessons. Before long the different groups of students were skiing like pros. Lunch in mountain cafes provided a welcome rest and chance to appreciate the beautiful snowy mountains.

After just a few days the students and staff were performing really well on the slopes, practising balance drills, tackling hills and skiing increasingly challenging runs with real finesse and style. Some of the group even skied to the French border.

The apres ski scene has been fun packed and exciting too with films, swimming, quizzes and games and dinner in varied restaurants.

Summing up the views of many of the students, Jacob Walton, Year 10, described the trip as "absolutely phenomenal".
